In contrast, digital representations consist of values measured at discrete intervals. Generally, analogue services (for example radio, TV, mobile telephones) are inferior to their digital equivalent. When used in a computing environment, the term digital is most commonly used to describe the conversion of real-world information to a binary format, as in digital radio, etc. For this reason, digital has become a familiar prefix to denote the online application of an offline subject.
